Accompanied by your guide, begin your walk at the Metro C station and venture into the heart of ancient Rome along one of the city’s most evocative routes. Continue along Via dei Fori Imperialiwalking among the imposing remnants of the Forum of Caesar, the Forum of Augustus, and the other monumental complexes that once formed the political and religious center of the Roman Empire.
Along the way, your guide will accompany you with a narrative that weaves together history, architecture, and daily life, helping you interpret what still emerges today from the ruins and the urban fabric of modern Rome.
The walk then leads to Piazza Venezia, where you’ll encounter the famous Madama LucreziaMadama Lucrezia, one of Rome’s “talking statues.” The ancient bust, identified as a depiction of the goddess Isis, will offer an opportunity to explore the spread of Egyptian cults in Imperial Rome and the unique relationship between Roman religiosity and deities from the Mediterranean world.
The tour will end at the Iseum , where the guide will lead you on a discovery of its archaeological artifacts. You’ll be able to admire the remains of the monumental arch that marked the entrance to the sanctuary, along with a valuable collection of marble pieces from various parts of the Mediterranean—a testament to the intense cultural and commercial exchanges that characterized Imperial Rome. The guide’s explanation will help you reconstruct the original appearance and function of the complex, delving into the role of Egyptian cults in the religious life of ancient Rome.
